I believe it is peruvian walnut. I maintains its color very well.

Yes! Epoxy will make the dye bleed. Even after a light sealcoat, before assembly and glassing, I had issues with the dye bleeding. Look closely at the right foredeck panel, where it meets the red cockpit recess, you will see where it bled on my NH S&G. When I sqeegee'd off the excess epoxy of the sealcoat, the removed epoxy was VERY red.
