OK, this is not a kayak. But this is my favorite forum, and I am pretty excited about how it turned out, so I hope you will all forgive me. It is a skin on frame boat, though . . . .

It's a sliding seat rowing wherry, of my own design. I built it using methods I extrapolated from building many of Tom Yost's kayak designs. It's 18'x33" and weighs about 45 lbs. Skinned with 9oz polyester and coated with ZAR polyurethane. Build time was about 11 days, at a cost of about $165 in materials.

In the pics, the sliding seat has yet to be installed. It rows just great from the stationary thwart, though - I laughed with every pull for the first five minutes!
The oarlock spreaders are removable, for transport. The sliding seat frame will also be removable.
