: Now on another topic: ....Any suggestions for a trailer capable of
: hauling up to 4 sea kayaks in the 17' range?

You looking for ready made? or are you willing to do some building?

Redtrailers.com sells a kayak rack and tongue extension that can be mounted on their folding utility trailers.

Trailex.com offers a few aluminum multi-boat trailers and single boat trailers, but they cost a little more.

I have no experience with either manufacturer, just found the web pages earlier this year while researching light trailers.

I recently bought a 4x8 utility trailer from Tractor supply, replaced the 5' tongue with a 9' tube and mounted bunks on it to carry a 16' pulling/fishing boat.

The link below is a discussion of home built and built-from boat trailers from the Woodenboat.com forum. It's good general info (and opinions) on the subject.
