:: you mean, to make forms from the measurements you get off it?

: I mean use the entire hull as a form. I have already thought about a new paint job and a new layer of varnish but she is a little heavy no thanks to my inexperience nine years ago as well a wood yard believing that 5.5mm marine grade was actually 4mm. Just playing with new ideas.

some possibilities:
1)Simplest would be to try stapling - as your original glassed hull is quite thick and stiff.
2)Another would be panel by panel, where you stapled or hot glued overlong strips at the panel edges ONLY and then stripped in between hoping that the edges hold each 'panel' in location - very likely would work ok. Mark the over hangs but use them as handholds to pry off the original and then trim to size. Build new panelled yak beside old, using a few forms to keep alignment and shape. ie. build one panel, strip off and trim, add to form, then the opposite, etc etc until new yak built.
3)Another would be to strip on the original using waterbased white onto the original's surface, and say titebond betw strips, predrilling a few holes into the original , finishing and glassing the strips and then blowing the hull off the original using the holes for water or air, heh heh.
4)use camclamps wherever you need (staple or hotglue stoppers to elimitate slip) to hold strips in place as the original is relatively stiff everywhere.

whatever approach, with a panelled original, it makes sense to strip to the edges (or a strip edge) of each panel and start again, sothat the shape and original intent shows.

Possible? Yes. Good idea? No.
