No worries. I was looking for a vague answer (such as 10 months or 4 weeks), but I am aware that this kind of thing does vary a whole heap. I didn't realise sizing the kayak was so reliant on the weight of exactly what gear you'd be taking, although now I consider it it does make sense. How do you figure out the size once you've got the weight? Ie is there a weight range for each size kayak, or what?
I wish I could do as you suggested re getting out on the wter and figuring out the answers from my experience, but unfortunately I doubt I'd have time to get al the experience I need to answer all the questions I'm giong to have. I'm just trying to figure out what are my options, I guess.
