Thanks Jim,

By "Paste Pigment" do you mean artists oil paints that are in a a tube? Or is it a different product?

Does it give full opaque colouring or is it translucent?

It is a great hint both the pigment and the colour separation. Thank you

I once used "super glue" applied with a pen nib (old fashioned type.) It separated the paint colours but did not accept the paint, so i had a Line between the colours. Good idea... failed! :(

While I am on about superglue; its a bit off topic, but i make sewing implements, crochet hooks and tatting shuttles etc.. With those two products I let superglue soak into the bare wood to smooth and harden the "working" ends. I think it would work if I applied it to the ends of paddles to harden them?

: I went into my wife's art studio and used boiled linseed oil mixed with paste
: pigment. The less pigment you use the faster it will dry. Darker colors
: take longer to dry. I prevent bleeding and promote color separation by
: using a fresh razor blade to outline each color area. I cut into just the
: tiniest bit of grain which stops the wicking action. I have done this a
: number of times with great success.
