I went into my wife's art studio and used boiled linseed oil mixed with paste pigment. The less pigment you use the faster it will dry. Darker colors take longer to dry. I prevent bleeding and promote color separation by using a fresh razor blade to outline each color area. I cut into just the tiniest bit of grain which stops the wicking action. I have done this a number of times with great success.
