I'm happy with my Dewalt 12 1/2" planer DW734.

Anyone know anything about the new Jet planer/jointers? 8", 10". I saw them on the Woodcraft site for not a lot of money when checking to see which model Dewalt I have. The jointer length is not very long, but should be adequate for boat building and some paddle making activities. They are obviously a compromise, but are they a good compromise? For building kayaks and canoes, they look like they might be just right.

: I've been avoiding it ... but the more boats and stuff I build ... the more
: it seems a planer would be worth while. I rarely work with stock more than
: 6 inches wide or 2 inches thick ... any planer will handle that ... but
: I'm always working with stuff between 1 inch and 3/16 inch thick.

: So ... recommend me a planer!
