After reading most of the excellent comments, I'll put in my little suggestion: White neoprene airbrushed to look like a stripper. The best of both worlds, safety and beauty, in one great little package.

Of course it will fade, but I'm sure it's faster, safer, easier than trying to figure out a strip skirt.

If you must do a hard skirt, maybe something grooved that slides into place but doesn't comprise the whole cockpit area? Think something like those box lids that slide into a groove in the box body. Exit wouldn't require the same effort against the force of water in a capsized situation, but also doesn't require a large effort to reinstall during reentry.
