Strip: Reducing the size of the 17' Great Auk

I am a first time kayak builder, and am interested in building the 10' little Auk. I bought and read "The Strip Built Sea Kayak" but did not remember seeing much direction on reducing the size of the 17' boat that the book lays out. It mentions changing the spacing of the forms, is it that easy? If I am thinking of it right it will change the shape of the boat slightly? I have the forms for the 17' boat drawn in CAD, will these work for the 10' Auk as well?
