:I have a guy who will later kiln dry it for me but it will have to be air dried initially.

I would love to have some air dried WRC because it will bend so much better with a heat gun.

All of the WRC I've been able to buy is kiln dried.
Kiln drying changes the "lignin" the natural glue that hold the wood fibers together.
Kiln dried woods do not bend as easily as air dried woods.

Cedar dries so fast as it is, I'd just cut that air dried WRC into your strips and use it.
