What I was trying to say was pay attention to the construction details for the F1 even though you are building in a different manner. Adpting it to use Tom's methods of construction will be a bit more complex because the line drawing doesn't give the full story. The chine on the bottom of the gunwale changes the angle of the skin from the lower chine up to the sheer line on the front half of the kayak, but the gunwale angle should remain at 25 degrees from bow to stern. Using the front/rear view in the line drawing to make cross sections without compensating for the extra chine will cause you to twist the gunwales to a much different angle on the front half of the frame, leaving you with a kayak that doesn't match the drawing.

: This could be because it's 1 A.M., but I don't entirely follow this
: statement. If shallow notches are cut for the gunwales where or how would
: the twisting occur? Do you mean that the 'knuckles' would create uneven
: pressure on the gunwales?

: I'm buying the lumber tomorrow. I hope this doesn't end in total disaster!
