Also, I don't build using PVC tarps, I use PVC coated woven polyester fabric. Due to the narrow chine spacing and the PVC : non-stretch characteristics,the skins don't go slack in the water.

I was assuming "truck tarps" were actually made of polyester fabrics coated in pvc...AFAIK that's what they're made of around here. Just like tarpaulins on sailboats if you prefer. Ordering this soon...

Sure, laterally this provides better rolling steadiness.
But speed, speed is the motto as it sems...My point was the rigid vs. skinned comparison. As for me, I'm satisfied with folders.

Great, I'm now building quite a beamy boat that should be behaving decently in the surf area then hug the Mediterranean shore. Won't look so fine!
