Check out Harvey Golden's story about getting his boat to Greenland for the 2000 Kayak Championships. See http://home.pacifier.com/~qayaq/greenland_2000.htm and scroll half-way down. He essentially built a kit here in the US and then assembled it in Greenland when he got there. He says it took under 12 hours to assemble... of course he's no ordinary builder either. Anyway, I just thought it was worth mentioning here because it apparently is possible. I'm not sure if I'd want to do a stripper that way :D
