I've been intruiged with this idea since I saw a paddle making presentation at R2K2. I guess it was Don Beale who mentioned the concept... A hollow cedar strip paddle that has a single spacer under the loom that acts as a "mold". Anyway here is the result. It's a Greenland style storm paddle. I say "style" because I doubt a real Greenlander would recognize it

What else... this is the seal coat. It will get about 6oz of e-glass to help keep it together. The strips are beadless. I would use bead/cove next time. I read that some paddlers find a storm paddle easier to roll with. I'll find out once the cockpit of my single is re-fitted. The overall length of this paddle is six feet and it is passed back and forth between the hands; alternating left to right like a canoe paddle (kinda).

The loom is a little thicker than I would like but it will be good enough for a first try.
