Mark-I used Z-Spar Flagship on my first boat, found it hard to brush on smoothly; refinished it last year with Z-Spar Captain's, which brushed on very well. Just started refinishing a mahogany sign I made about seven years ago; it's been such a pain to restore (weighs a ton, hard to get into an out of the shop) that I figured I'd go for the most UV protection I could get, so's I don't have to deal with it again for a long time; used Flagship again, but this time I rolled it on with a Tiz foam roller, tipped it off with a foam brush. Eureka! In a 60 degree basement I got a nearly mirror-like finish. I expect that with warmer temps the results would be virtually flawless. It's really easy to get a thin, uniform coat with the roller, which would likely help to eliminate sags, etc. on other than flat surfaces. I got the rollers at CLC; the guy I dealt with said that all the boats in their showroom had been finished that way, and they all looked great. Went fast, too; it took me only 15 minutes
to do the sign, which is 2'x8'.-Greg
