: What is your favorite varnish for over epoxy on stripped boats? I have always
: use z-spar captains varnish, but I see that z-spar also has a flagship
: varnish. And what about epifanes gloss varnish. They all claim superior uv
: protection. Do some of these varnishes change the color of a boat more
: than others?
Generally the higher the UV protection, the darker the varnish. I have found that I beat up my boats enough that I want to revarnish it to cover scratches before the varnish has otherwise "failed". Because of this I've been happy with Captains and haven't seen the need for Flagship or the others with higher UV protection.
If you live in a particularly sunny climate, the high UV varnishes may start to make more sense.
