I am that previous poster. It wasn't the absorption of epoxy that I was mainly worried about, but that there might be creep, delamination, or movement in the wood structure UNDER the epoxy/fiberglass. As I mentioned before I've had a lot of experience with contact cement/lamination and epoxy/fiberglass/lamination, but never a combination of the two. There were several good comments about this, but still nothing definitive. I will watch your progress with interest. I think I will do raised hatches as I mentioned. If one eventually screws up I'll simply replace it. The results of a test such as this will not be meaningful unless it is for an extended period. I have no pictures or journals of any boat work I did in the last 40 years. I'm going to make up for that in the next 40 years....and after that I think I'll get really creative....
