Material: Two Part Polyurethane

Hi guys.

Wondering the usability and usefulness on the two part polyurethane (Interthane Plus) clear stuff that's UV protected. Is that a product that must be reacoated every year - does it feather in to the old coat without a lot of fuss?

OR

Do you guys recommend just using the standard UV varnish every couple years and live with the minor scratches. It's a kayak that's going to be used for cryin out loud so I'm not too worried about minor scratches.

I'm also wondering if the two part polyurethane is tough enough to stand up to grounding/beaching the kayak - more so that the varnish. I've noticed a few of the builders here add a layer of 'glass to the wear spots but I'm wondering if the two part polyurethane would be enough to not have to do that.

Thanks all!
Tim
