: Kurt: I am still a long way from final finishing but I have been duly
: considering these two treatments. System 3 caught my attention since it is
: water based, but it's downfall for some may be it's matte finish.
: Do you happen to have comparitive photos showing the two finishes?

I don't think so, but there is no comparison between the gloss. But, matte may be your thing. It is cheap enough to order the System 3 sample kit. That's what I did. Look on their website. If I remember correctly, it was about $10. I'm glad I did that before I purchased the product. However, the System 3 is an easier application and had better leveling properties, but it was 10-20 degrees warmer then. Think of cold syrup vs. warm syrup. I think that may be why I need the thinner in the Perfection Varnish. The can says use full strength. The gloss doesn't seem to be affected by the addition of thinner. David Hanson is using Perfection Varnish and he is the one who suggested thinning it. He's a few hundred miles north of me, but the temps have been about the same for both of us. I have two coats on the deck and will wet sand before I brush on the last coat. May try warming the varnish to see if I get better leveling properties without the thinner. The perfection varnish seems to go on thicker requiring fewer coats.
