Chad, I built My Canoe from Davids book, A 17 ft Micmac. I Just completed Nick's Guillemot Expedition single, Stapless, using the U-block and painters tape technique. Two totally different methods of building. If you would like more info about merits of one vs. the other, just email me at the above address. I dont like to get too long-winded on the board.
By the way, I love my Canoe even though it is nowhere near as beautiful or complex as my Kayak, And when he gives the capacities of the various boats, he is not lying about the micmac. I had mine loaded with two full size coolers with ice,food and my favorite beverage, 2 tents cloeman campstove 2 bags of clothing,2 tackle boxes filled,4 fishing poles,anchor,2 paddle,me at 200lbs,2 sleeping bags etc. And it still slipped through the water.
