Sounds like fun! The next kayak I build for myself is along your lines. Right now it's on the "when I have absolutely nothing else to do" list. The idea is the deck will be be one, big, inlayed, fire-breathing dragon... Each scale might be an individual piece of veneer. Someday... when I have absolutely nothing else to do.... By the way, my wife liked the idea so much she wants a matching one... Yikes.
