Doug,

Have you already faired and sanded the outside? If you haven't, try to remove as little as possible when fairing/sanding; if you have gaps on the inside, they could show up on the outside as well after fairing. Not to start a debate, but that's one of the the reasons I prefer bead and cove. For filling, I agree with Bill, an epoxy based filler (more structurally sound) will be best. Regular wood filler won't reinforce the gaps like epoxy will.
