: - is there any chance you could elaborate on the last two
: about connecting points ACROSS panels and doing the visual check on the
:display net?

The feel that I get with freeship is as if I am stretching a sheet of thin balloon type rubber between the 2, 3 or 4 seams of a panel - and you can see the surface behaving like this if you turn up the fineness and get down close to the panel edge near a non-corner point. The difficulty is that the edges are now harder to fair because of more points and the curvature analysis tool is very crude (but useful none the less).

For example if you have a panel shaped like a crescent moon (maybe like the ends of yr yak IF you have bunch of points there, you have to be careful that the stretchy surface doesn’t fold back over itself on the inside of the moon. The way to drive it flat is to add seams (not creases) across the panel. It never flattens out perfectly, but doing that makes a huge difference. Like it’s quite humourous to get down close to the cockpit and see how the panel doubles itself into the opening if you don’t put a whole pile of little seams across to the gunwale.

I think I said it wrong the last time, but the panel edges have got to be creased (as well as on a diff layer and ea layers developability checked)

And another good idea is to plot (or examine, at least) the station lines on the panels so that you know exactly where and how the panels meet. By doing this you eliminate the flipping problem and have assurance you are doing it as best as poss.

There are lots and lots of places to make mistakes on this stuff and often you (me, anyone) end up paying the dues of bitter experience - but as already stated, models, models, models are quick and will save your butt and show you things that you never even thought of. I make mine at ¼ full size as that size is robust, easy to fix when dropped, and large enough to show problems.
