What manner of glass cloth are you using on the outside?

Buy some excess and cut it diagonally into 3 inch wide strips. If you cut it at 45 degrees to one of the edges of the cloth you'll get strips which are about 4.5 to 7 feet long, depending on the width of your cloth. This is a very manageable length. These bias-cut strips will follow compound curves more easily than any strips cut straight. A gentle tug on the strip imparts a natural roll and curve--so don't tug on them before you install them.

The orientation of the fibers imparts greater strength to the bond as all fibers are working to hold the hull and deck together. with plain woven tapes, or square-cut strips you only have the shorter cross fibers holding things, while the linear fibers add no strength to the joint at all.

Hope this helps
