I would say go for it. I don't think you'll regret it. Yes, you'll pick up a weight penalty for the laun, but not a horrible one.

A few things I would change if I were to do it all again (and I will soon enough).

1, I would not go nuts with the glass in a panick over strength. It does seem just as Chris told me, one layer outside is enough. The rest just add weight.

2, I would do the end pours much more carefully, and with a good bulkhead or piece of cloth to reduce its size and weight as much as possible. Through sloppyness I probably added 10 lbs here alone.

3, I would not use plywood for the support arms as suggested. It splinters most unpleasantly on its edges and looks like hell. It's the ugliest thing about my boat. For the "things", I would use real wood.

4, I would use slower epoxy. I was fine in the winter, but as summer finally arrived, and I tried to "get by" I was rushed. It shows. Not to others, but to me.

Couple of things I did do, that aren't mentioned.

1, Battens. Ok, they are mentioned, but they *work*. Real well. Can't emphasize this enough.

2, Bevels. As in beveling the edges where you stitch. I did it at first without this, and then redid with it. Made a world of difference for alignment.
