I built my AT 14 on sawhorses located at the bulkheads that are about four feet from each end. I really liiked the access to the ends. So, I don't think you will find a short table to be much of a hindrance.

What you will really want is cradles. Use two of the bulkheads as templates, add for wood thickness, and build cradles. Without them the boat just rolls around. I also had a bunch of bricks which were great for holding the boat at odd angles. and also for supporting the deck when I worked on the underside.

I think the lack of cradles is Pygmy's major failing. Not a big one because the panels go together perfectly and the directions are superb.

you can also tint the varnish using Japan colors
