But winter has so many wonderful things to offer! I am a cross-country skier in the "off-season" so at this time of year, I'm actually looking forward to winter. That & I just got a new pair of old snowshoes that I'm anxious to repair and hike off into the bush with. And yesterday in Saskatoon it was a cloudless day and 29 C. I spent the weekend paddling (canoe) on Kingsmere Lake and aside from some moderate winds on Sunday, we had fantastic weather - warm (during the day - nights were darn cold), & sunny. During the night the beaver were busy and could be heard dragging birch & poplars past our tent on their way to the underwater raft of winter supplies they were building. We also saw a family of moose but watched them from a distance given that it's mating season. Yesterday we paddled home across the lake with just a light South breeze and little more than a ripple on the big lake. Unfortunately we didn't bring sunscreen and my wife got a bit of a burn - at the end of September!!
