For redwood in Northern California, try a place that specializes in decking. In the past I have bought good quality decking from Sierra Lumber in San Jose in "Heart B" grade. This does have some knots in most boards, but should yield useable a reasonable percentage of clear full length strips.

As I have mentioned here before, Jackel Enterprises in Watsonville usually has clear WRC. Neither source will be cheap.
