I noticed your post on the baidarka listing as well. You should try the listing archive. There has been much discussion on this topic.

One thing I've done that has not been discussed to my knowledge is the use of a zinc rich primer (well thinned) as the base coat. Many builders complain of mildew spots on the inside especially in damp climates. Here in the Pacific Northwest it doesn't get much damper and my kayak (George Putz's style) doesn't have any exibit any mildew on the inside after 4 years and the kayak is kept outside summer and winter but under cover. The was finished with 2 coats of marine enamel. Good luck Bram
