Good advice from Jay, especially for ash. One problem I ran into with ash is it sometimes doesn't soak up unthickened epoxy like you would like it to. I had a laminated stem joint fail using a fast hardener. I fixed it by scraping off the cured epoxy, rough sanding with 80 grit to open more pores, and regluing with a slower hardener. It worked great, with no sign of failure. Bottom line: when using epoxy to glue ash, rough it up first, then do the soak. Use a slow hardener for both the soak and the thickened mix, and you will have no problem. - John
