No. If you glass-in the wood blocks--or even 4mm okoume, etc. to save space--the wood becomes as much a part of the hull as any other part, including any part used for through-bolting. If it's properly done, I don't think there's any sacrifice in strength. If you check the archives, you'll find several systems used by posters to this board.
