In Response To: durhams putty and color ?? (peter czerpak)

: I used about a 1:1 volume mixture of durhams water putty to wood flour to
: fill small gaps in my return. color is only a creamish.

: will epoxy (when I glass the hull) turn the filler to dark chocolate color
: like wood flour normally does as fillet material on a S&G boat? I need the
: dark color and don't want to have to pick the filler out now that its in
: and ready for glass.

The epoxy will not really darken the Durhams, you get what you see.
The darker color you got with s/g was wood flour mixed into epoxy, right?
Durham's isn't going to absorb epoxy like that, with Durhams' you need to get the color where you want it before it dries on the boat.
Maybe try a marker or something to color the filler in place.
I have not tried it myself because of fear of how it might affect/react with epoxy but maybe somebody has done it. Seems somebody on this board has already tried every hair brained thing I've thought of in the past.
