Don't paint that boat! I have goofs on the hull of my first boat (Panache) - I just chalked them up to experience and let them go. Nobody ever looks at its hull anyway, and if they did, the scratches would divert their attention from the construction goofs.

In addition, this is the first instance of your design. After paddling it awhile, you may find attributes you want to change on the next iteration. At least don't spend time now sanding/re-glassing. If it turns out that you absolutely love the boat as-is, sand/reglass next winter.

: This is my last photo before I seperated the hull & deck. The blue tape
: is still visible at the seam. My deck f/g good and the hull had every
: problem possible it seems. First I had the white spots and smears that
: probably caused by dust and sanding epoxy while green. The picture isn't
: very good but if you look closely at the hull, especially the right side
: you will see some big dark splotches. I know what caused this. I had my
: hull sanded with 100 grit using the orbital sander as I had also sanded my
: deck. Then I thought I will just fair it a little better and I picked up
: my sanding board and started sanding. I soon realized I had 60 grit
: sandpaper on it and was causing rough sanding marks. I sanded again with
: my ROS but not as good as I should have, thinking that if f/g weave would
: disappear under clear epoxy so would the sanding marks. But I guess what
: happened is the sanding marks soaked up more epoxy and darkened. Also, I
: had an epoxy run onto the hull when I was epoxying the deck. I sanded it
: down smooth thinking that when I epoxyed the whole hull it would also just
: blend in and disapear but it shows up also. I may try to do a fix this
: winter but can it be fixed? I am thinking now that if I sand everything
: down to bear wood in the splotched areas and then put on fiberglass
: patches and epoxy that the edges may show up as a dark ring, like the
: epoxy run did. In the end if I can't fix it or live with it, I will put on
: a coat of black epoxy and hide everything. Any thoughts will be
: appreciated.
