I saw an ad in the back of WoodenBoat for $0.25 per foot, cove and bead cedar. That might be $350.00 for a boat which sounds really steep to me.

As I mentioned in another post (Just to rub it in :) I picked up enough cedar for a couple of boats at a garage sale for $10.00. I've never bough new wood at market value for a strip boat, only plywood. Watch the classifieds.

: I recently asked Ross Leidy this question. How much does it cost where you
: live for strips? I live in B.C., on the west coast and clear western red
: cedar is attainable reasonably. I milled all my strips out of one piece of
: 20' 3x10 and a 16' 2x4 of yellow cedar. Both pieces tight grained and
: clear of any defect. I didn't mill cove and bead but planed my strips by
: hand to achieve the tight fit. Is thhere a market for such a product?
