not a lot of experience, but every half inch you true up, you lose 1 in of material. the strips are so floppy anyway, i bet they'd be unnoticeable when on the forms. It's not like you have rigid panels or doors where a true edge is important.(if you do, different story - like the gunwales on a sof)

I thinkwhen it comes to my long yaks(and long to short bds), I'll use a short infeed, no(none) outfeed(like if you cut narrow strips an outfeed is deadly), splitter for the strip side(so no catch) and wide featherbd just before the blade. only if there is a prob at the back of the blade on the main bd, would I modify to eliminate.

If you lay all the strips in the same orientation that they came off the board and if the area was to be flat, then maybe a prob. But most of the time it's random or you'll bookmatch and one'll cancell out the other or the surface is curved.

If you use a blade with very little offset, truing will become more necessary as there'll be less tolerance at the back of the blade vs the curvature of the board.
