I am in the same 'boat'. I searched far and wide and then discovered that Grant Goltz (see his profile on this site) at Squeedonk Kayaks makes the Grebe which is for small paddlers. This year he is making the plans available for the first time for a wood strip boat...which I am about to start for my 11 year-old son. I also was going to make a S & G model....possibly Shearwater, Pygmy, CLC, but decided I really wanted to make a woodstrip as I will be cutting all of my planks for my own building project...the Outer Island.
I have found Grant incredibly friendly and open to questions of all kinds...a pleasure to deal with. You might check out his site at: www.squeedonk.com...
