OK, some people, after trying a plane, may want to try just sanding. I've got no problem with that. Their results may improve.

You seem to believe better results are guaranteed. I disagree. You think: "...go at it with 80 grit and hold it flat and keep it moving. " is sufficient instruction for sanding. I disagree.

Hmm, you have a a funny way of not attacking. I welcome you offering alternative methods, but you tend to go well beyond that.
