: Hi folks, back to kayak talk. Does anybody have any pictures of the keel
: strips fitting detail. I have about 3/4 of an inch of stem form left.
: Shuld I fill this in with strips then fit the two keel strips or should
: this be where the land. the book seems to say the keel would be completely
: covered, if this is the case I would assume I would need to plane off the
: coves, as I am stripping cove side up from the sheer.
: How far over the top of the stem form can you strip?
: Sorry for seeming like an Idiot but this is different stripping technique
: than David hazens. If you have seen the pics of the micmac you will see I
: started string at the keel and worked to the sheer. Thanks guys Elliott
: PS I have looked at Nicks building photos and havent seen thid detailed.

Hi Elliott

While I haven't built the Expedition from the plans I have built a 17' Guillemot and a 19' Guillemot. I have pictures posted there that may help you as well as the included link to the picture that illustrated a solution for you. I used square edge planks and had to bevel one edge to fit them with little gap. I used three or four cheaters to get the strips running level. When the meeting angle got to shallow, I ran two center strips beveled to eliminate the gap. The ends were a problem but the external stem covers the problem area quite nicely,

Greg
