Hi daren,

Here are some thoughts about polyurethane glue. It is really messy to work with, so disposable gloves are one idea, just as with epoxy. The stuff is moisture-activated, so washing in water just accelerates the reaction - not a good idea. The open time is fairly long, so you can wash it off, but use a solvent. The d-limonene based "citrus" cleaners work well, and don't irritate most people's skin. Try to avoid skin contact though. Even the single-component urethanes contain trace amounts of methyl diisocyanates as curing agents, something on the order of 1-1/2%, and this is a nasty chemical. Casual contact with small amounts for short times probably won't harm you, but MDI is a known carcinogen.

As for taming the mess, a small dot every 4-6" between strips seems to do the trick, even outside in 40 degree weather. Most of the gaps between strips are unfilled of course, but a seal coat of epoxy should fill most of those gaps later, and the upside is that epoxy in those areas is a better deal in the long run than yellow glue. I'll take some pix later and post one to illustrate.
