: I wonder whether 24 hrs. could be cut out of the process with the use of
: moisture-cure polyurethane adhesives, such as Gorilla Glue? Seems like the
: moisture in the wood would then be as asset rather than a liability. I
: think Eric Schade mentioned recently that he likes polyurethane glue
: exclusively for hulls. I'm using it without steam on the current project,
: putting just a dot every 6 in. between strips, and it seems to work better
: than yellow glue in my alfresco "shop". It foams up (by only a
: factor of 2 or 3), but it trims easily and has a truly tenacious grip. Has
: anyone used it and had problems later with sanding and fairing? Or
: anything else?

hi pete;
i've been using pro-bond poly-u glue for everything but stripping and gunwales since my first boat.
on my s&g guillemot i used it to glue the panels together so i could remove the wire stitches. worked great! it's invisible under the epoxy.
seat frames on my hiawatha and wee-lassie are holding up nicely.
it sands easier than the wood around it and doesn't show it's foamy holes on a good joint.
it stains your hands with a vengence, so be neat, if you have to look nice.
any thoughts on oil for greenland style paddles?
regards;
daren.......
