: I found the Wally to be a pretty quick build. I'd agree with Rehd on the
: plywood for forms. To shorten the forms you'll need some kind of
: strongback or table to work on (or need to spend a lot of time on your
: knees :-) Once you read the book you will see that GP leaves a lot of room
: for customizing the boat. One area you should modify is the cockpit. For
: ocean paddling you probably want something you can put a skirt on. Also
: keep in mind you will need (should have) some float bags too. If I were to
: build one again, I would probably opt for a polyester skin over Putz's
: canvas. It will be much lighter. Mike Hanks just finished a very nice
: version this way. He has also finished this boat design in plywood, making
: a much more robust boat.
