Before you get too worried about microfractures in polyester resin, keep in mind that matrix cracking is a damage accumulation mechanism in any polymer matrix composite. Epoxy, polyester, vinyl ester, or any of the alternative matrix materials can and will microfracture to one degree or another. I do believe that epoxy is a better resin for wood boat building.
