I built a merganser 17 last summer from the plans provided by Eric Shade. I couldn't be happier with it. Even though I used cheap 1/8" luan and am not an experienced wood worker, it still came out OK. Even though I look at it and see a lot of mistakes, I still get compliments every time I take it out, and it paddles fine.
