In Response To: OK, so who makes a 235.831cm paddle? :) (Brian Nystrom)

: I obviously got it working, but now I'm in a real quandry. How do I add
: 5.831cm to my paddles?

ROTFLMAO!!

I got the formula from Ken Cooperstein (obviously) and added the inch conversion scales...I probably should have added Excel's round() feature to the final answer!

Cut the paddle in half. If it's a two-piece paddle, cut it next to the ferrule with a hacksaw, and glue in a piece of closet rod to bring it to the right length. ;)

While I like the formula, I like to throw in a 1.10 or 1.05 boating style factor for a vertical power touring stroke--otherwise, I get a 245cm paddle, and that's way too much for me!

I like how it takes blade length into consideration so you get fuller immersion of a longer blade, and a shorter blade doesn't have to be immersed past the blade/shaft joint.
