Dear Inquisitive:

I also live on the Ga. coast and paddle it's tidal rivers and ocean surf with a longboat and surfkayak. A few more details would be helpful...what size are your pedal extremities? (any boat is going to be murder if your dogs are howlin' under the spray skirt), what sort of paddling are you planning to do...'vein in my teeth' surf paddling or lilly dipping on a tidal river somewhere interfacing with the egrits? Multi chined boats are more forgiving and therefore better for the novice paddler, albeit more difficult to build. I agree with the previous posting that you should paddle as many boats as possible, and please feel free to contact me off list at chriskayak@earthlink and possibly arrange for some of those aforementioned boat tests....(I've got a stable full of 'em)....this will at least help you to narrow down your likes and dislikes. Merry Christmas all!
