External Stem

Prying for information once again.

I am wondering how y'all did your external stem pieces. Specifically I am interested to know if you extended them up onto the deck and then cut at the shear line or did you end it at the shear line? And if you did extend onto the deck did it wrap around the bend or stop flush with the horizontal plane.

I am planning to use Ash cut to 1/2" wide and about 1/8" thick and use 3 or 4 layers.

Also, on the bottom, did you feather it out where it meets the keel line or did you carve a notch for it to fit into and finish with a butt joint?

Once again, thanks for your help.
