In Response To: flush hatch covers (Don Campbell)

: I'm getting to the hatch covers on my Guillemot. I've cut out the holes and I
: am using the cutouts for the covers. I would like the covers to be flush
: after I put the weatherstrip around the edge. I am thinking of taping some
: cardboard onto the hatch cover and then taping this in place and doing the
: 6 or so layers of glass to create the lip. The cardboard will allow for
: the thickness of the weatherstrip.
: Has anyone done anything similar to this or maybe has a better idea?

Check out www.oneoceankayaks.com. Vaclav has a method for doing this that has been used by several builders here.
