I am planning to make some braces as well. I've been told that ethefoam (ethafoam) works fairly well. It is easy to work with, cheap and available from most any plastics supplier.

: I recently completed a pygmy coho and it turned out great. A friend is
: teaching me to roll and I dont fit the boat well. (too loose). I installed
: pygmys thigh braces but they are too small and my hips are too narrow for
: the fit I have laterally with 3/4 in. of foam. My friends white water
: kayak has a large molded thigh brace section that holds you very well. I
: am lookig for sources of materials or inserts or whatever to improve my
: fit. I live in northwest ohio. Thanks. pete wilson
