: Hi Larry;

: That is not the unthinkable - - I feather all my glass before fill coats. If
: the cloth was properly wet out to start with, additional resin coats will
: make the cloth invisible again.

: If you apply an additional coat of epoxy and can still see the weave, your
: original glass wetout was too dry. There is nothing that can be done other
: than to sand it off and start over. There is generally no harm in sanding
: into earlier glass layups other than the resultant loss in strength if you
: go too far. Another coat will always make the sanding invisible, no matter
: how far you sanded, unless the cloth was not properly wet out.

: "I am merciless when it comes to fairing cloth edges after wet-out"

Spidey, Thanks for the input. My wetout was fine, my problem is not that I can see the weave but in certain light, I can see "sparkles". This is a common problem if you sand into the glass too far and more epoxy will not cure it. I was just feathering the edges as usual before adding more epoxy but in the process sanded into the glass beyond the edge. I did not have all my fill coats applied, the weave was not filled completely. This glitter problem is mentioned in several building books and is not the result of poor wetout. My question was, if anyone ever had successs adding another layer of thin glass over the glitter to hide it? It is my only solution, short of complete grind-off.

I'm in the process of trying it now. I will let you know how it works.
